Integrated Home Page Management

Two powerful servers from Compaq have been allocated in Mercantile Communications, our Internet Service Provider, so that all the web sites related to ICIMOD can be integrated for better access and management. One server has already been configured to host the ICIMOD web sites www.icimod.org and www.prempanda.net. The second is in the final phase of phase of configuration and will host the Mountain GIS portal (www.icimod-gis.net) 

 Systems Support

MENRIS provides support for the more than 200 computers in ICIMOD, some 140 of which are connected to the Internet. MENRIS staff perform troubleshooting, help with programme and computer installation, and provide training, advice, and IT related consultations to all ICIMOD staff. The division is also responsible for maintaining the Internet connectivity with Mercantile Communication, currently a 128 Kbps leased line and 115 Kbps radio link (backup). In addition, MENRIS has acquired state-of-the-art servers from Sun Microsystems and Compaq for systems related services like the e-mail server, web server, database server, and proxy server. As a part of this support, MENRIS conducted a two-day training course in MS-Excel for ICIMOD staff in March.
