National GIS Portal in Bangladesh

Mr. Basanta Shrestha and Mr. Kiran Shakya visited Bangladesh from 26 April to 1 May in connection with the development of a national GIS Portal Site in LGED, Bangladesh, under the IDRC project, “Towards a Regional Geographic Information Infrastructure (RGII) in HKH”. A meeting was also held with UNDP - Bangladesh for discussions about the partnership of ICIMOD with the Consortium that has been recently formed for Chittagong Hill Tracts. 

Mr. Basanta Shrestha attended a series of meetings of the National GIS Steering Committee which is working for the development of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Nepal. The meetings were attended by representatives from the National Geographic Information Infrastructure Project (NGIIP)  of Survey Department and National Planning Commission. Formulation of Data access and pricing policies has been the main agenda of these meetings.
