Develop Country Pages with GI resources

A “Country Page” or national geographic information framework is also provided with the components on Data, Applications, Training and other resources. These in-country resources will be supported by the national partner institutions in terms of coordinating with other national institutions, collecting and collating data, metadata, applications and information on other GIS related activities within their country. With the available datasets at the public domain and in close collaboration with various national institutions, the geographic information on member countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Tibet Autonomous Region of China, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan have been integrated. These are being tested and made available to through the portal. 

 Transfer of Technology

Through the support of ESRI, ICIMOD has facilitated the needed technology and software to deploy the GIS portal at ICIMOD and at the national level in Bangladesh and Bhutan. The prototype model for Bangladesh has been made ready in collaboration with LGED, Bangladesh.

 Technical Backstopping

MENRIS is providing technical backstopping on GIS, including preparation of database, maps, support and services, to ICIMOD programs and partners that it receives from time to time. This has also helped in integrating with other program activities and also to build partnerships and understandings.
