Extranet on Himalayan Conservation Approaches and Technologies (HIMCAT)

The HIMCAT Extranet site has been created to share information and knowledge among the partners of the Himalayan Conservation Approaches and Technologies (HIMCAT) network. It serves as a platform for discussions on issues related to World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) activities on a regional level - the hills of Central and South Asia.  WOCAT was established as a global network of soil and water conservation (SWC) specialists. WOCAT's mission is to provide tools that allow SWC specialists to share their valuable knowledge in soil and water management, that assist them in their search for appropriate SWC technologies and approaches, and that support them in making decisions in the field and at the planning level. As an important regional institution the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) hosts this Extranet site.

The HIMCAT Extranet is aimed at strengthening communication, cooperation    and collaboration among HIMCAT partners and the main tools available for use in HIMCAT Extranet are:

1.HIMCAT Workspace
Collaborative Workspace is a system to share, manage and access both tacit knowledge, in the form of discussions on topics and issues as well as explicit knowledge, in the form of document uploads. It will be a good way to enhance the collaborative work (team building) and share information, expertise, problems, solutions among the HIMCAT partners and members.

2. WOCAT Documentation 
Here you are lead to WOCAT main homepage where general information, outputs and downloads such as WOCAT questionnaires, databases etc are available.

3.Meetings and Events
This is another application to find out and share the different activities of HIMCAT across the members and partners seen as events like country workshops, someone's visit, deadlines for reports etc. on a single common calendar.

4.Search to Extract Information and Knowledge
There is a search tool to dig out information from the different discussions or web pages selectively inside the Extranet.
