MENRIS training materials developed for different thematic areas of courses are being integrated within the portal to serve as a self-paced learning kit through the Internet with a potential for e-learning GIS system. A comprehensive system has been designed and is being developed in close collaboration with Jlet technology, India.
Si milarly, in collaboration with Jlet technology, WWW (Who is doing What and Where), has also been developed and is in testing phase. This is the system developed to store the information about the Experts, Projects and their location (Organization). Primarily, this module has been developed to add the comprehensive database for the projects in the HKH region only. WWW allows decentralized data input and management. A portal on Protected Areas of Nepal has been developed in collaboration with IUCN Nepal. The portal provides information on general features and the species found in these protected areas. A map interface has been developed using SVG tools for simple viewing and query based on geographic locations.
A portal has been developed on Sagarmatha National Park which has been integrated seamlessly with the portal on Protected Areas of Nepal. A number of data layers developed on SNP are served through this portal with an interface based on ArcIMS. The portal provides a platform for disseminating the GIS database on various biophysical parameters through the internet.
